About

This is the true story of 5 intrepid squishies, who were loved first by an extremely distractable girl who somehow manages to do amazing things with her life despite caring deeply about absolutely everything.

It's just life, as it happens... It's about facing impossible odds and laughing when you fail. It's about that stupid amazing vulnerable thing called a heart, and what I do with mine. It's about the common human experience and whatever inspired us to get out of bed this morning.

Who are you?
“You’re either standing on chairs or sitting on floors. You can’t find somewhere in between... Loving you is an adventure.” - my roommate Allison
I'm a college student taking a break from school. A photographer who wants to specialize in international photojournalism but who hasn't crossed a US border yet. I'm a quixotic ADHOS workaholic contact-geek NF virgin hippie gypsy whose joy in life comes from making other people happy.

Are you for real?
Totally. I can't vouch for the guest bloggers, but everything I post about my own life is true.

Some of the names have been changed so I can be more vulnerable about my experiences without being disrespectful of other people's privacy. The events themselves are accurate.

Cute! Where can I get my own set of 'Podes?
Sadly, Crayola discontinued this particular set of bath toys in 2011... which is why I discovered them in the discount cart in the first place. I contacted Crayola when my first set's eyes started rubbing off, and they were kind enough to send me a few complimentary spares so I could continue doing this, but the octopuses are no longer available for general purchasing.

However, Crayola informed me that they have a new set of ocean friends they will be releasing soon, which look like this:

Crayola Squirter bath toys
If you like my octopuses, I highly encourage you to buy a set of these, to thank Crayola for making this blog possible. It's not the octopuses that matter as much as having the imagination to do incredible things with them.

And if you really, REALLY want to play with octopuses like mine, consider hosting my 'podes for a week. =)

MISC
You are welcome to reprint occasional posts/comics/pictures pretty much anywhere (presentations, papers, blogs with ads, etc). If you're not outright merchandizing, you're probably fine. Just be sure to attribute properly. =)

Yes, I do other photography too. My professional portfolio is at laurashanae.daportfolio.com.
